Spring Seminar on Emergency Medicine (SSEM) 2026
A unique educational experience combining high-quality emergency medicine education with the spectacular setting of Queenstown.SSEM26 brings together an outstanding faculty of local and international experts to explore the latest developments, practical skills, and emerging challenges in acute care. Our programme focuses on real-world emergency medicine, delivering relevant, evidence-based content that participants can immediately apply in their daily practice.
This year's programme covers a broad spectrum of topics including emergency department sedation, paediatric emergencies, toxicology, chest pain assessment, traumatic cardiac arrest, palliative care, ventilation, point-of-care ultrasound, atrial fibrillation management, sustainability in healthcare, clinician wellbeing, civility in medicine, wilderness medicine, and the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in emergency care, research, and healthcare systems.
Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in a range of hands-on workshops led by experienced clinicians and educators. Returning favourites include practical procedural workshops and advanced ultrasound sessions, while the highly anticipated Wilderness Medicine Workshop, delivered by RescueMED, offers an immersive learning experience in one of the world's most spectacular outdoor environments. Places for this workshop are strictly limited.
The seminar programme has been carefully structured to balance educational excellence with opportunities for collegiality, networking, and professional renewal. Interactive workshop streams, panel discussions, and informal conversations with faculty provide ample opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss challenging cases, and build professional connections.
Beyond the lecture theatre, Queenstown offers an unforgettable backdrop for learning. Delegates can enjoy a welcoming reception, optional social events, and a conference dinner at the stunning Stoneridge Estate, while taking advantage of everything the region has to offer—from alpine scenery and lakeside walks to world-class food, wine, and adventure activities.
Whether you are looking to update your clinical knowledge, develop practical skills, explore emerging technologies, reconnect with colleagues, or simply step away from the demands of clinical practice for a few days, SSEM26 offers the perfect opportunity to learn, reflect, and be inspired.
